Wizard ToolZ FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is Wizard ToolZ free?
Check the App Store listing for current pricing. An optional Spellbook subscription may be available. There is no Wizard ToolZ login account.
Does Wizard ToolZ work offline?
Yes. Photos, camera, mic, and exports are processed on your iPhone unless you choose Save or Share.
Is Wizard ToolZ only for tattoo artists?
It is built by and for tattoo workflow — studio-tested tools like value study, stencils, and machine tuning. Light Spell, Chroma Hex, Looking Glass, and Stencil Engine are excellent for painters, illustrators, and art students too.
How is Wizard ToolZ different from Ink Weasel?
Ink Weasel controls Electric Shark audio tattoo machines. Wizard ToolZ is an artist utility kit — value study, stencils, color, references, lobby portfolio, and machine tuning.
What iPhone do I need?
Wizard ToolZ requires iOS 16 or later. iPad is supported for several tools including Grimoire lobby display.
Can I use Light Spell on a live tattoo in progress?
Yes. The live camera path shows real-time black-and-white value on skin. You can also import a photo of healed work or a reference.
Does Light Spell upload my photos?
No. All processing stays on your iPhone unless you choose Save or Share through the system.
What is the best motion preset for social clips?
Reveal dissolve is the clean default. Epic presets add ink-style motion for portfolio reels — preview loops in the export sheet before you share.
Do clients need the Wizard ToolZ app?
No. The QR opens a web preview in Safari on their phone.
How do I get back to artist mode?
Face ID or your device passcode on the artist exit control.
Are my photos uploaded to a server?
No. Grimoire runs on your iPad. The QR handoff uses your local shop network only.
How many art styles are included?
Chroma Hex ships with 40+ dedicated style wheels, each with palette logic and brief historical context.
Does Chroma Hex replace my ink line?
It helps you plan — always test healed results on skin. The tool reads your reference, not your pigment chemistry.
Can I use camera photos?
Yes. Import from library or capture with the camera inside the tool.
How many references can I stack?
Up to four layers in one glass session.
Does voice control need internet?
No. Speech runs on-device when your iPhone supports it.
What if I do not use voice?
References still cross-fade on a timer. Voice is optional — handy when your hands are on the machine.
Is this a new kind of stencil tool?
It is the workflow you already know — photo to line art — with a guided flow, multipage print math, and fast export baked in.
Will it work on a blurry phone photo?
Sharp, evenly lit reference works best — the edge engine cannot invent detail that is not there.
Is processing done in the cloud?
No. Core Image runs on your device.
Does this replace Ink Weasel?
Ink Weasel drives Electric Shark audio machines. Machine Tuner is a studio utility inside Wizard ToolZ for any coil you can mic.
Did tattooists really use guitar tuners?
Yes — before dedicated tools, a lot of coil techs parked a guitar tuner near the machine. Machine Tuner is built for the same hum-and-buzz read, tuned for tattoo frequencies.
How do I get a cleaner read?
Quieter room, steadier hand on the phone, happier digits on the screen.
